Extensive orientation for new graduate RNs. ECU Health Medical Center’s program provides mentorship opportunities, clinical/classroom training and more — all the resources you need to become a confident and competent ECU Health Nurse. After completing our new graduate orientation program, you’ll have more practical experience and more confidence in your hands-on nursing skills. The nurse extern program provides an immersive experience into nursing professional practice at ECU Health. Student nurses will gain first-hand experience in and exposure to the knowledge, skills and relationships needed to develop as a professional nurse. The program will provide student nurses with the opportunity to increase their clinical competence, apply classroom knowledge in the clinical practice environment and socialize to the role/unit/organization.
