Outer Banks Health Hospital is a full-service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. It is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includes a full rehabilitation therapy center, cancer treatment and radiation therapy center and a 24-hour emergency department.

Emergency Department
21-bed unit
Caring for patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric. In addition to treating general emergencies, we are an acute stroke-ready hospital, and we also provide specific treatment such as cardiac monitoring and orthopedic care.

Medical/Surgical
17-bed unit
Population consists of pediatric and adult patients in need of general medical care for conditions like cardiac disease, end stage renal and liver disease, respiratory disease, sepsis, and more. We also provide care for orthorpedic, pediatric, gynecologic, plastic, ENT, and general surgery patients.

Perioperative Services
Three ORs, one endoscopy suite, one L&D OR, and eight PACU bays
Providing preoperative, OR and post anesthesia care for adult and pediatric surgery patients.

Labor & Delivery
Two LDRP suites, two OB triage rooms and four mother/baby suites
We provide bedside care for pregnant and postpartum patients. This includes triage, labor management, cesarean section recovery and mother/baby care. High-risk patients are triaged, stabilized, and transferred to a higher level of care as indicated.
