RNs in ECU Health's enterprise float pool are assigned to one of our regions, each with two to three hospitals.

A 974-bed teaching hospital in Greenville and the flagship of ECU Health. Magnet®-recognized, it offers advanced inpatient and outpatient care, research opportunities and broad clinical specialties serving 29 counties.
ECU Health Beaufort Hospital – Washington, NC
A full-service hospital in Washington, NC, with a 16-bed emergency department, comprehensive surgical and maternity services and the nationally designated Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center.
ECU Health Bertie Hospital – Windsor, NC
A critical-access hospital in Windsor, NC, offering surgical, emergency and diagnostic services plus specialty and primary care clinics. Telemedicine expands access to expertise in a six-room inpatient facility.
ECU Health Chowan Hospital – Edenton, NC
A critical-access hospital in Edenton, NC, offering emergency care, ICU, maternity suites and surgical services. Serves over 100,000 residents with a broad range of specialty services and advanced capabilities.
ECU Health Duplin Hospital – Kenansville, NC
An 81-bed facility in Kenansville, NC, providing emergency, medical/surgical and community health services. Team members access ECU Health system resources and technology in a close-knit patient-centered environment.
ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital – Tarboro, NC
An acute-care hospital in Tarboro, NC, offering emergency, maternity, rehab and outpatient specialty services. Home to a modern cancer center and active in community wellness through award-winning outreach programs.

This 204-bed facility in Roanoke Rapids, NC, offers surgical, emergency and psychiatric services. Fully accredited, the hospital supports 60+ specialties in a collaborative care setting.
ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital – Ahoskie, NC
A 114-bed hospital in Ahoskie, NC, delivering full-spectrum care including pediatrics, behavioral health, oncology and surgery. Also offers wound care, sleep medicine and pain management in a community-focused setting.

The ECU Health Travel Staffing Program (TSP) is an in-house travel program that provides flexibility for short-term assignments in select positions at different locations across the health system. This program is open to external RN candidates. Current ECU Health team members are not eligible for participation.
Team members who are in the program are classified as temporary team members.
External candidates must have:
Current or former ECU Health team members
- A minimum of one year of nursing experience
- A degree in nursing from an accredited school (BSN preferred)
- Active, unrestricted NC or Compact RN License and primary source verification
- American Heart Association BLS/ACLS certifications as appropriate for the position
- Additional certifications and/or experience if required related to specialty unit requirements
- Successfully meet all required conditions of employment
Current or former ECU Health team members
- Must meet all criteria above, plus:
- Minimum 92-day continuous separation period from ECU Health organization
- Must have a “Meets Expectations” or higher on last appraisal at home hospital
- Eligible for rehire status
Assignments are 13 weeks long, with opportunities to extend as needed in 13-week intervals for up to a year.
Any unit that meets the criteria for external travelers can also request TSP positions. This includes Medicine, Emergency, Critical Care, Operative Services, Oncology, Women's & Children's, Cardiac, Progressive Care, Behavioral Health and Rehabilitation units at our locations across eastern North Carolina.
External candidates and former travelers interested in the program will have the opportunity for consistent work assignments as well as the ability to gain ECU Health employee benefits and tenure upon successful transition to a regular or part-time staff RN positon. Additional benefits include:
