Our Nurse Residency Program allows graduate nurses to choose from nearly any clinical area to find the best fit for your professional goals. It refines and enhances your skills by pairing you with a strong mentor to support your growth along the way. After completing our new graduate residency program, you’ll have more practical experience and more confidence in your hands-on nursing skills.

RN Residency Program - Prerequisites and Information

Prerequisites and Information

  • ADN or BSN required
  • North Carolina RN license must be active prior to start date
  • 0-6 months of hospital RN experience
  • Full-time position
  • Cohorts start in February and during the summer
  • You will work the schedule of your clinical coach(s) throughout orientation
  • Shift and weekend differentials are available at the start date of your residency orientation
  • Nursing students can work with us as Nursing Assistants while in nursing school

  • ECU Health Beaufort Hospital, a Campus of ECU Health Medical Center

    A full-service, 142-bed hospital located in Washington, one of eastern North Carolina’s charming waterway communities on the Pamlico River. With more than 50 physicians and 600 dedicated health care professionals, this progressive facility offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services.   • ECU Health Bertie Hospital

    A critical-access facility located in Windsor, a small town steeped in eastern North Carolina history. With six beds and an active staff of 135 health care professionals, ECU Health Bertie has a very busy outpatient surgical and medical service.   • ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital

    Serves Tarboro and surrounding communities with an impressive array of acute-care offerings. This 101-bed hospital is home to physicians representing more than 20 medical specialties.     One of the nation's largest Level I trauma centers with 974 beds and more than 7,000 team members. ECU Health Medical Center received Magnet® designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for quality patient care, nursing excellence and professional practice for the third time in 2024.

    A 204-bed hospital serving Halifax, Northampton and Warren counties in the north-central region of North Carolina. Its service area also reaches into southern Virginia.   • Outer Banks Health Hospital

    A full service, 21-bed critical access hospital offering a wide range of services to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includes four ORs, a medical/surgical unit, a labor & delivery suite with a dedicated caesarian section OR, a full rehabilitation therapy center, a brand new cancer treatment and radiation therapy center, and a 24-hour emergency department.
