Position Summary
The Child Life Specialist I delivers quality patient care utilizing basic clinical skills and knowledge for patients under the ages of 21. Work is with inpatients and outpatients for whom hospital confinement and medical procedures can be threatening and result in social withdrawal, maladjustive behavior, and other psychosocial complications. Work involves striving to promote the optimum development of children, adolescents and families utilizing appropriate developmental approaches while minimizing the negative aspects of hospitalization.
Minimum Requirements
Four year degree: BS/BA in Child Development, Child Life or related field required.
Child Development/Child Life or related field. Child Life internship, course work related to development of children and effects of hospitalization, preparation and coping techniques for hospitalized children and bereavement education, continuing education is required.
Certification eligible as a Child Life Specialist and acquired within one year of employment.
One year or less experience as a Volunteer, practium work, internship attendance a related conferences, workshops, seminars such as Child Life Council, graduate assistantship, and then entry level Child Life therapists.

Full time with benefits. Rotating hours are 0900-2130 and 1230-0100
