Position Summary

1. Prepares Computer-aided Design & Drafting (CADD) drawings for hospital facilities, minor renovations, and infrastructure diagrams and drawings.

2. Utilizes CADD software

3. Utilizes Microsoft Office software to support D&C staff. Software includes Word, Excel, & PowerPoint

4. Participate in field verification of existing building and site conditions and transferring information gathered into CADD. Format from field observations and updates from architect and engineer supplied construction documents.

Responsibilities

1. Software requirements:
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Bentley MicroSation, and Microsoft Office applications

2. Design project support:

Prepare drawings for minor renovation initiatives and infrastructure diagrams. Independent work is expected on small scale projects, including collaboration with clinical staff, plant operations staff and outside design professionals.

3. Construction project support:

Prepare drawings and other documents for project managers during construction phase activities.

4. CAD system management:

Provide CAD software support to other users. Coordinate with information systems department. Coordinate with CAD software vendor(s). Provide first level of information systems support for F+P staff. Other work as required to provide effective CAD system utilization.

5. Drawing archive management:

Maintain hardcopy and digital archive of facility record drawings. Coordinate access to drawing archive as required by facility plant operations staff, outside design professionals and others. Integrate updates to facility CAD files as construction projects complete and record drawings are submitted. Update facility life safety plans as required.

6. Intranet webpage management:

Maintain facility drawing information on ECU Health intranet site. Pursue improvements to F+P page on intranet site.

7. Specific project ownership:

Ensure annual updates and compliance for the following initiatives: ECU Health cost report, Bed Count Document, OR Count document, Parking database, Facility Evacuation plans and Statement of Conditions tour plan updates.

8. Life Safety Committee:

Develop a working knowledge of basic life safety code requirements for hospitals and other facilities. Participate in field verification of facility life safety assessments and life safety committee meetings.

9. Teamwork:

Provide support to other F+P team members, facility clinical and operational staff, outside design professionals, contractors, vendors and others as required to insure successful completion of assigned projects. Provide additional duties as needed.

Minimum Requirements

Associate degree with concentration in Architectural/Engineering Drafting/CADD training or minimum 6 years experience in CADD in an architecture and/or engineering office.
