- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology

Medical Laboratory Specialist
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or other degree and one year of experience

Laboratory Assistant
- High school, equivalent or higher
- Completion of a structured phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation is recommended
- Preferred: Six months of experience in a medical setting and phlebotomy certification by ASCP or another nationally recognized certifying agency

- Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of academic credit of biology and chemistry
- Histotechnologist (HTL) certification or HTL (ASCP) eligible

- High school, equivalent or higher with five years of previous lab experience or three years of previous histology or cytology experience

- ASCP cytotechnology certification
- Five years of clinical laboratory experience with cytopreparatory techniques, microscopic analysis and evaluation
