ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet® designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people.

Position Summary

  • Assists faculty in achieving its research mission and goals.
  • Develops and refines areas of research focus for the nursing unit/division.
  • Develops and implements department policies and procedures to ensure that the conduct and review of clinical research is in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Provides guidance to faculty, fellows, residents, medical students and other staff on the preparation, conduct and compliance documentation necessary for institutional, individual and research subject protections in clinical research.
  • Drafts research reports/abstracts in collaboration with clinical faculty.
  • Plans, develops, and implements strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for the departments.
  • Serves as the Center's coordinator for clinical trials working in collaboration with the Director, other faculty and staff.

Minimum Requirements

  • ADN or higher is required. 
  • BSN preferred
  • NC Nursing License required.
  • Research methodology courses required along with a background in data analysis.
  • More than 4 years but less than 5 years previous job experiences in the management of patients.
  • Experience publishing/presenting papers; experience with clinical trials.
