Position Summary

Manages the daily activities in the delivery of quality patient care within the area of Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Clinical Support or Anatomic Pathology. Administers policies and manages personnel within area of expertise daily and all departments in Pathology in the absence of the Administrator, on weekends and holidays. Maintains adequate inventories of supplies and reagents to perform testing. Assures adequate equipment is available, operational and performance monitored. Monitors current accreditation standards to ensure department compliance with all regulatory agencies. (CAP, JCAHO, NCCLS, CLIA, ASHI, OSHA, Federal Regulations, and AABB). Develops, plans and audits departmental goals and budget. Monitors and serves as a resource for activities related to physical plant, data processing, and educational training of students, regional laboratories, and Departmental/Hospital committees.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher is required. Major:  Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or related field
  • ASCP, AMT, HEW, or equivalent certification is required.
  • 5 years of current lab experience in area of concentration is required.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience in laboratory or clinical setting is required.
