About Vidant Bertie Hospital

Vidant Bertie Hospital is a six-bed critical access state-of-the-art facility located in Windsor, North Carolina that provides surgical, emergency and diagnostic services, specialty clinics and primary care clinics. Our primary care physician practice operates the Vidant Family Medicine - Windsor and we have a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The Emergency Medicine Physicians see approximately 30 patients per day, as well a cover the 6 inpatient beds during nights and weekends. Our medical staff includes some of the finest primary care, internal medicine physicians and surgeons in the region.

 

Position Summary

The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for the scheduling of patients and preparation of charts for the Specialty Clinic physicians. Demonstrates and promotes positive working relationships with the medical staff, other hospital staff that support patient care and consumers.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Initiative and judgment in determining needs of patient care.
  • Ability to flexibly meet the changes in the healthcare environment.
  • Demonstration and promotion of positive customer relationships with visitors, patients, physicians, and staff in a friendly, caring and timely manner.
  • Demonstration of personal traits/behavior consistent with the mission and core values of Vidant Bertie Hospital.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
  • Flexibility to juggle several tasks.
  • Ability to identify problems and creatively plan solutions using a multidisciplinary approach to improve performance.                                                         
  • Computer skills-keyboarding, data entry, basic Microsoft Word and Excel, e-mail.

Preferred Requirements

Medical Office Assistant degree or two years of related healthcare experience preferred.

Other Information

Full-time position with benefits

40 hours per week, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Experience with EPIC and medical office workflow including:  Scheduling, Insurance Authorization and Insurance Verification preferred
