Vidant Medical Center is a 900+ bed Level-1 Trauma Center, regional referral hospital and is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health. We serve as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Vidant Medical Center provides acute, intermediate, rehabilitation and outpatient services to more than 1.4 million people in 29 counties. Position Summary

Responsible for creating the first impression of the organization's services to patients and families and other external customers. Essential duties may include performing all pre-arrival duties related to the pre-registration and financial clearance process for both outpatient and inpatient services.  This position is responsible for collecting proper demographic and financial data to insure hospital bill is paid by a third party payer or the patient, in addition to verifying insurance eligibility, referral coordination, and securing authorization.  Acts as primary liaison for patients receiving professional and hospital services at Vidant Health.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School or Equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Associate Degree: preferred
  • Bachelors Degree: preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of Registration and/or Billing experience within a healthcare setting is required
  • 3 to 5 years - customer service experience is required


Required

  • Excellent communication (both written and oral), detail orientation, organization, and multitasking skills required
  • Insurance Verification experience



Preferred

  • Experience with EPIC and medical office workflows
  • Experience with Microsoft Office/PC-based applications (Outlook, Word and Excel)
