Vidant Medical Center is a 900+ bed Level-1 Trauma Center, regional referral hospital and is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health. We serve as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Vidant Medical Center provides acute, intermediate, rehabilitation and outpatient services to more than 1.4 million people in 29 counties. Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates all activites of the Graduate Medical Education office. Organizes and assigns essential duties to staff.
  • Oversees all initial credentialing, including initiation of individual employment contracts for Resident Physicians and Fellows entering Graduate Medical Education Programs. Directs the employment and orientation process of all new Resident Physicians and Fellows including immigration and visa requirements for International Physicians, personnel forms for employment, and facilitating orientation for new trainees.
  • Serves as Training Program Liaison for J-1 Educational Visas between Vidant Medical Center and Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) processing all J-1 Visa initial and annual continuation applications.
  • Initiates and manages the process for the Annual Resident Physician and Fellow Reappointments to include verification of successful completion of previous year of training, reappointment applications and issuance of annual contracts.
  • Manages the away training rotations at outside entities to include presenting away rotation request from programs to the GMEC for approval, ensuring away rotations meet requirements of the ACGME and respective specialty boards, initiating annual educational contracts (Letters of Agreement) with clinical sites.
  • Provides administrative oversight by leading or facilitating for the following Graduate Medical Education Committees:

            Program Coordinator Council
            Fellowship Coordinator Council
            Resident Council

  • Special projects supporting the efforts of the Graduate Medical Education office as directed by the GME Physician and Administrative Leadership.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in  Human Resourses, Business Administration and other related science/medical fields is required.
  • Residency Management Database experience preferred but not required.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in Healthcare setting - managed care or provider credentialing, graduate medical education, human resources, physician recruitment, hospitalist management is required.
