Information Services at Vidant Health

Vidant Health offers comprehensive Information Technology (IT) services and infrastructure to support and enable all aspects of organizational operations. Our IT division consists of a state-of-the-art data center located in Greenville, NC. The data center services all information technology needs of Vidant Health facilities. All Vidant Health owned or leased hospitals are on a common IT platform, including our electronic health record (EHR) that uses Epic's suite of applications. Vidant Health has achieved Meaningful Use Stage 2 recognition and is also approaching Stage 7 for HIMSS Analytics’ Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model (EMRAM) recognition.

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the IT Manager of Enterprise Imaging Applications this position is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of all Radiology and Cardiology information systems. In this role you’ll work as the Systems Analyst for all Clinical Enterprise Imaging Applications at Vidant Health. Acting as an experienced primary system builder for Imaging and Cardiology requirements as part of the Information Technology Department, you will be responsible for but not limited to system implementations, optimizations and upgrades. You’ll also oversee their day-to-day operational needs, and work closely in teams to develop new workflow efficiencies.

Applications used include: Philips: iSite, Intellispace ECG, ISCV, Xper; Nuance PowerScribe, PowerShare; GE: MacLab; Hyland: Acuo VNA, ImageNext, NilRead; Provation MD; and Epic: Clinical, Radiant


  • Participates in the selection, implementation, and development of new information systems, architectures and design
  • Leading the design and implementation of our new Hyland Acuo VNA, NilRead, ImageNext with integration with Epic
  • Identifies and investigates software vendors who provide products that meet Corporate Goals and Departmental Objectives; coordinates software demonstrations; obtains detailed proposals from vendors
  • Develops application specifications/profile toward completion of project management plans for assigned projects
  • Establishes project tasks, monitors progress, and addresses areas not on task
  • Maintains close working relationships with users to facilitate and develop receptivity to recommended operational changes
  • Supports systems to meet user requirements and to incorporate system efficiency principles
  • Coordinates the installation of application upgrades
  • Maintains familiarity with vendor/user documentation.
  • Documents and maintain documentation regarding interactivity of applications
  • Assists users in resolving applications issues; coordinates resources in resolving application software and hardware issues
  • Works with vendors in identifying and facilitating functionality in the installed applications
  • Ability to communicate on a professional level with customers and staff
  • Strong Microsoft platform knowledge including Windows Server and MS Office
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal and communication skills with an emphasis on customer service
  • Ability to work in a fast paced work environment while maintaining a high level of quality
  • Demonstrates ability to take direction from management
  • Applies updates, upgrades and migrates environments based on technical documentation
  • Accurate and logical problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
  • Strong initiative and proven ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Strong knowledge of security concepts, granting and removing user permissions
  • Supports users via week-long on-call assignments and on-going after-hour support of assigned applications

Coordinates tasks for Super Users, providing education for compliance, which includes training to facilitate use of existing applications.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates degree in radiology, clinical, computer science, or related field. Bachelor degree strongly preferred

  • Experience in Philips iSite PACS systems and Hyland Acuo VNA preferred
  • DICOM Image routing experience preferred
  • Four (4) years of direct clinical, business or project management experience. Certified PACS Associate preferred
