Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, formerly Heritage Hospital, is a full-service, 110-bed acute care facility where residents of Tarboro, Edgecombe county and surrounding communities receive a wide range of health services close to home. In addition to acute care, our services include rehabilitation, oncology and outpatient clinics.
The OR Manager responds to patients needs that range from basic life support to varied medical-surgical interventions. Vigilance is provided to meet the continually changing assessment and intervention requirements.
Care is provided to all patients of all ages, from neonates to the elderly. Call rotation is not required, but expected if sickness, vacation, or emergency cases require. The role of the OR Manager requires prompt response to the requirements of both physicians and staff. It also includes collaboration with administration, staff, physicians, anesthesia, ancillary staff, and other departments.
He/she is responsible for assessing, planning, and organizing OR schedule and patient rotation. He/she directs nursing care and related activities of the surgical suite, according to the mission, policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the hospital, nursing service and the department. He/she must have thorough knowledge of OR nursing principles/procedures and assumes 24 hour responsibility and accountability for unit management.
