Position Summary
Accountable for operations oversight at the Specialty Pharmacy, including personnel management, fiscal oversight, regulatory compliance, patient/customer satisfaction, and provision of quality pharmaceutical care. Employee actions reflect a commitment to patient-family centered care through demonstrating the belief that patient and family needs and wishes must be actively solicited and engaged and that their preferences must be at the center of all services.
Responsibilities
Accountable for the safety and quality of pharmacy services delivered from the pharmacy. Actively participates in department and system continuous quality improvement programs.
Assists in establishing and designing goals for operations team.
Ensures compliance with regulatory (DEA, FDA, NCBOP) and accreditation (ACHC, URAC) standards.
Reports and manages medication errors, including process improvement to prevent recurrence.
Provides, coordinates, and evaluates staff development opportunities/competencies for operations team members (Pharmacists, technicians, support staff). Mentors staff through team building and education.
Maintains practice skills and competently functions in a staffing role. Time allotted to staffing is approximately 40%.
Participates in the budgetary process and monitors drug expenditures in operations.
Participates in development of new programs and services; develops metrics to track impact.
Serves, supports, and evaluates customer satisfaction and takes action to improve experience.
Supports educational mission of ECU Health. May serve as preceptor for students and residents.
Minimum Requirements
College Degree plus other schooling is required, BS, MS, or PharmD in Pharmacy.
Must be licensed as a pharmacist by the NC Board of Pharmacy prior to start date.
Minimum of two years post-graduate experience required.
Managerial/Supervisory experience preferred.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of hire.
