Position Summary

  • Deploy, and maintain enterprise UNIX systems and Epic Iris database software.
  • Lead and mentors others with AIX OS, and Intersystems ODB upgrades and patching to maintain stable and secure systems and latest system functionality.
  • Lead and assist in planning of Epic version upgrades, including working with project team on task scheduling, prioritization and planning, and technical execution.
  • Manage system backups/snapshots, including monitoring of system jobs for successful completion and resolve any issues.
  • Monitor systems performance and capacity.
  • Identify and implement process automation to improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop and report against baseline KPIs and perform capacity and performance reporting to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor the Epic infrastructure and proactively implement changes to reduce risk and minimize unplanned outages.
  • Evaluate, recommend, implement and maintain security hardening standards across all Epic backend infrastructure (Iris/AIX/etc.).
  • Develop complex shell scripts, and modify existing scripts as needed for systems management or project deliverables.
  • Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.
  • Evaluates, selects, integrates, and implements new system architectures, systems, tools, and processes following ITIL standards.
  • Provide well-written and effective technical documentation and demonstrate strong oral communication skills.
  • Collaborate with team members, colleagues, consultants and vendors to effectively analyze and resolve simple to moderate issues.
  • Provide on-call support as needed by the business, to 24X7 critical infrastructure operations.
  • Provides leadership in the planning and design of technology architecture roadmaps.
  • Leads in the development of operational policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Develops and presents business cases demonstrating ROI and TCO's to ensure business alignment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience required. 
  • Epic Certified ODBA certification required, or obtained within one year of start date.
  • 7 or more years of experience Intersystems Cache/Iris and enterprise AIX.
  • 5 or more years of experience working with Epic EMR systems.
  • Experience with Enterprise Storage platforms and associated enterprise software/hardware platform preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of system high availability concepts with practical experience and implementation of key components.
  • Experience leading project teams in the design and implement of new solutions in areas of expertise.
  • Proven ability to work with other technical teams in a collaborative and supportive manner.
  • Independently motivated to seek knowledge in areas of responsibility and mentor other engineers in areas of expertise.
