Position Summary

Leads Professional Development Specialist (Nursing) team in partnership with Manager to achieve ECU Health Medical Center Professional Development Model outcomes. Responds to department, organization, and system needs for professional development through human connections, innovation and experiential learning, utilizing evidence-based practice with the goal of advancing the mission of ECU Health.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the educational design process and utilizes adult learning principles to bridge the knowledge, skills, and/or practice gaps identified through learning needs assessment and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Analyzes practice gaps in relation to organizational mission, vision and strategic goals; national standards; or other benchmarks.
  • Serves as Nurse Planner for the ECU Health Approved Provider Unit. 
  • Transforms processes at the micro, meso, and/or macro system levels using change management strategies and theories to drive outcomes.
  • Contributes to the professional role growth and development of nurses and other healthcare team members by developing and leading ongoing professional learning opportunities across practice, professional, and educational settings. 
  • Mentors Professional Development Specialists (Nursing) with ongoing role competence and growth. Serves as an NPD practice content expert and models expert practice to peers. 
  • Influences the interprofessional practice and learning environments, the NPD specialty, the profession of nursing, and healthcare.

Minimum Requirements

  • MSN in Nursing Education or MSN with Postmasters Certificate in Education is required- or higher.
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of North Carolina. 
  • Nursing Professional Development Certification required.
  • 3 to 5 years of health care experience, specifically teaching adults.
