Position Summary

Under the direction of the CDI Manager, the CDI Supervisor is responsible for providing first-line supervision for CDI Specialist and Analyst staff for a busy and fast paced organization representing a variety of specialties. Supervisor responsibilities include but are not limited to daily supervision and monitoring of quality and productivity performance, interviewing, hiring, and any necessary discipline of staff. The CDI/Coding workforce is predominantly remote.

This position also involves participation in process improvement projects and supporting the work needed to meet department and system wide goals. The position requires a high degree of collaboration with Revenue Cycle, Chargemaster staff, and the HIM Department. Close collaboration between Coding Department (professional), Coding Department (facility) and the Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) team is an expectation for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor proficiency and productivity of CDI services to enhance the revenue cycle
  • Works closely with Manager to aid in professional development to promote retention and overall employee satisfaction.
  • Responsible for supervising time and attendance.
  • Collaborate with revenue impacting departments and/or clinics to develop and maintain standardized and consistency of CDI services.
  • Monitor and work CDI Queues as assigned.
  • Assist CDI manager with research of problem accounts and responds appropriately to resolve the account issues.
  • Manages high priority projects and communicate effectively at various levels.
  • Assist with developing and updating CDI policies and procedures and other duties as assigned.
  • Attends and participates in educational programs or in-services to keep abreast of changes and/or developments in Coding and CDI rules/regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • ADN or BSN required. 
  • Three years relevant CDI experience required. Leadership experience preferred. 
  • Certification (CCDS or CDIP required).
