The flagship ECU Health Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center, and ECU Health Maynard Children’s Hospital serve as the primary teaching hospitals for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Position Summary

The Vice President, Centers of Excellence reports to the Chief HR Officer, and serves as a member of the human resource leadership team. The role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to attract and retain top talent within the organization.  This role plays a critical part in ensuring the alignment of talent acquisition, total rewards and workforce planning practices supporting the ECU Health's talent strategy to achieve the strategic priorities of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide long-term strategic direction for the Centers of Excellence across the organization that aligns with ECU Health's mission, values, competencies, and capacities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create and scale a people strategy for attraction and retention in all areas of the organization keeping with philosophy outlined by the committees of the board to achieve the organization's strategic plan.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement that ensures ECU Health is recognized by team members and the communities served for high employee engagement, retention and well-being.
  • Leverage leading practice strategies in alignment with the Chief Belonging Officer to advance team member belonging across ECU Health.
  • Oversee Centers of Excellence functional areas and provide support in removing barriers to the achievement of ECU Health's strategy. 
  • Develop and implement innovative offerings in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Utilize data-driven insights and technology to inform strategies; monitor key HR metrics; measure effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Leadership to ensure alignment of business needs and market normalization including education based of data.
  • Lead as a trusted strategic business partner with ability to influence, coach, and advise related to the Centers of Excellence.
  • Deploy and support change management and transformation efforts across ECU Health.
  • Maintain financial stewardship of budgets.
  • Develop and execute short and long-term goals for the area of the ECU Health Centers of Excellence supporting vision and strategy.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher is required
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR or related certifications are preferred.
  • 15 years of relevant work experience required. 
  • Leadership experience of 7-10 years; preferable some in health care setting.
  • Strong knowledge of talent management best practices, tools, and methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • PHR / SPHR Certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational change involving cultural transformation.
  • Wide exposure of specialized fields in Human Resources including overseeing talent acquisition, total rewards, employee relations, business administration, or related field.
