Position Summary
$7,500 Sign-On Bonus
Under the clinical supervision of the Medical Director for Neurophysiology and the overall supervision of the Neurophysiology Supervisor, the Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Technologist provides safe, expedient and cost effective services. END Technologists perform diagnostic studies on neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients. END Technologists behave in a manner consistent with the standards and ethics of all health care professionals. END Technologists are required are required to document in the electronic health record factual, accurate, complete, timely, legal information about the care they provide to each patient. Each END Technologist is Technologist is responsible for billing the patient correctly for the services provided.
Responsibilities
1. Performs standard and long-term EEG recordings on patients of all ages.
a) Customizes the recording based on history, clinical indications and observations according to lab policy and procedure.
b) Provides appropriate patient care and detailed observations of clinical manifestations during seizures and other patient emergency situations.
c) Summarizes the patient's neurological status and clinical history from the medical record, patient, or others (i.e., family, physician, nurses, etc).
2. Understands fundamentals of EEG; terminology, functional neuroanatomy and physiology, medication effects on the EEG; clinical correlations and instrumentation.
3. Establishes rapport with the patient and/or family members by explaining all testing procedures.
4. Assures a safe patient care environment at all times.
5. Maintains patient confidentiality in accord with HIPPA regulations.
6. Ensures proper operation, as well as routine cleaning of equipment; reports need for repairs to supervisor.
7. Participates in conferences, technical meetings, and other educational activities.
a. Maintains educational and credentialing requirements set forth by ASET.
8. Demonstrates Service Excellence behaviors and Cultural Attributes.
a. Conducts self in a manner consistent with the standards and ethics of all health care professionals.
9. Makes self available as a resource to other staff members; Serves as a preceptor to Level I employees, students, residents and other medical staff rotating through the Neurophysiology department.
10. While all END Technologists have responsibilities and duties as listed above, each technologist is classified by a clinical ladder system with a range of I-IV. Each level represents more authority and responsibility. Staff is expected to maintain clinical ladder standing through accumulation of credits required for their level of participation.
