ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Position Summary

Pharmacy Technicians are a foundation of the pharmacy department and drive many of the workflow activities. The expectations are to support the mission, vision, and core values of ECU Health and the pharmacy department by engaging directly with patients, multidisciplinary teams, and payers.

Responsibilities

Clear communication skills (verbal and written)

Gathers, documents patient specific data including insurance information, demographics and other data as needed to resolve medication discrepancies

Interacts with patients to improve medication use

Independently resolves medication related issues

Consult with pharmacists and other professional staff

Specific entities may require proficiencies in particular roles

Specific roles may include:

Analyze cost data

Conducts medication histories and reconciliation

Assists with Patient Assistance programs

Initiates prior authorizations

Minimum Requirements

High School or Equivalent (GED) or higher

2 years of related experience

Must be registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire

Must maintain and complete additional job specific competencies

Preferred Requirements

Certification through National Pharmacy Technician Association - CPhT

Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree - Pharmacy Technology
