About ECU Health Beaufort Hospital, a campus of ECU Health Medical Center

ECU Health Beaufort Hospital is located in Washington and serves as a campus ECU Health Medical Center, our Level I Trauma Center in Greenville. The 142-bed full-service hospital offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services including medical, surgical, intensive care, emergency, pediatrics and women’s services. In addition there is a lab, diagnostic imaging services, physical and respiratory therapy. The facility also features the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, offering leading-edge chemotherapy and radiation therapy, among other cancer services.

Position Summary

Directly responsible to therapists, and assistants they are assigned to work with. Actively seeks to improve knowledge and skills of self and others. Will also be involved in team dynamics and participate in interdisciplinary activities when appropriate. Assists with patient care by performing simple treatment procedures under the direction and direct supervision of a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant. Transports patients, charts and equipment to and from treatment areas as instructed by the therapist. Other rehab support duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Assists with patient care by performing simple treatment procedures under the direction and direct supervision of a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant. Transports patients, charts and equipment to and from treatment areas as instructed by the therapist. Alters work hours including weekends to meet patient care demands per management request. Is responsible for the safety of patients assigned while they are in the patient treatment areas and is aware of the overall safety conditions in the areas. Unsafe conditions or actions are to be corrected and /or reported to appropriate management staff.
Performs inventory, cleaning and storage duties as assigned by the therapist. Assists with office duties including answering telephone, filing, copying, etc.
Attends and participates in all mandatory inservices/meetings. Actively participates in:establishment of program goals and objectives, establishment of program budget, space allocation, quality improvement and program development. Actively seeks to improve knowledge and skills by discussion with physical therapists/physical therapy assistants and attendance at appropriate inservices
Communicates and interacts with other health care professionals, patient/caregiver according to age group and background in an appropriate and timely manner through verbal or nonverbal. Assists with orientation of new personnel per management discretion.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Ability to communicate effectively and interact pleasantly with patients and co-workers of varied backgrounds.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service appropriate to the age of the patient.

High School degree or equivalent

3 or less years of service with the system is required (exempt for General Rehab SCI and Medical Group)

General Rehab SCI and Medical Group no experience is required.

Preferred Requirements

Prior experience in a patient care environment related to current position (Acute Rehab, Inpatient Rehab, Outpatient Rehab)
