Position Summary

Assists with the collection and reporting of routine low risk hearing screening data under the direction of a licensed audiologist. Assists with Conditioning Play Audiometry in audiological sessions requiring an assistant, under direct supervision of a licensed audiologist.Assists in the scheduling and transportation of patients. Participates in and maintains team support. Performs other duties and shared tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

1. Assists audiologist with the collection and reporting of low risk hearing screening data including: Receiving screening requests and scheduling, Performing routine infant screenings as directed by the audiologist, Following strict guidelines for patient identification and result labeling, Maintaining records and logs as required, Entering data into data base for norms, Checking instrumentation for malfunction & reporting programs to audiologists, Maintains equipment in a clean and ready state. Interacts appropriately with infants.
2. Assists with Conditioning Play Audiometry in audiological sessions requiring an assistant, under direct supervision of a licensed audiologist. Assists audiologist in conditioning pediatric patients or difficult to test adult patients during evaluations, is able to remain on patient side of audiological test suite with patient when necessary to calm and direct patients as needed.
3. Assists in the scheduling and transportation of patients. Assists with coordination of follow-up appointments for infants referred on screenings. Communicates with county child services coordinator for patients with transportation problems or repeated failures to keep appointments. Assists with transporting patients to therapies or equipment to patient care areas.
4. Participates in and maintains team support. Supports philosophy and vision of patient-focused care model. Performs other duties and shared tasks as assigned such as:

Receiving and ordering hearing aids
Checking assistive listening devices daily.
Maintenance & cleaning of departmental supplies.
Assisting patients who "walk in" with basic hearing aid questions
Assisting with filing and telephone duties

Minimum Requirements

High School or equivalent is required.

0 - 3 years of service with system
