The Outer Banks Hospital is a full-service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The 21-bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includes four ORs, a medical/surgical unit, a labor & delivery suite with a dedicated caesarian section OR, a full rehabilitation therapy center, cancer treatment and radiation therapy center, and a 24-hour emergency department.

Position Summary

The Patient Access Services, Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for providing Revenue Cycle quality audits on patient registrations using daily work queues by supporting the Data Integrity Team. The incumbent is responsible for assisting with monitoring/tracking registration data quality, correcting errors, identifying trends, curriculum development, and providing continuous support of operational leadership. This individual will be knowledgeable in end-user systems and applications relative to revenue cycle management for the purpose of assessing, educating and training staff on systems and applications used.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently review the performance of completed work for all Patient Access Representatives
  • Adheres to Quality Assurance measures and metrics which report any trends or process improvement opportunities for each project, office, and Revenue Cycle division
  • Design/Develop Quality Assurance materials including electronic scorecard, individual quality assessment, and building quality dashboards in the EHR
  • Provide constant communication with senior leadership regarding quality monitoring results, any identified and/or recommended training needs and deficiencies, as well as possible project improvement opportunities
  • Reports all Quality indicators for identification of trends to determine where training deficiencies exist
  • Work with Training & Education team to develop training modules and assist as needed with training initiative
  • Implements corrective action plans as necessary to assist with the deployment of training modules to both individual colleagues and project leadership
  • Maintain product knowledge expertise including new product roll-outs, upgrades and enhancements
  • Completes QA audits of specified number of patient accounts within 3 days post discharge
  • Resolves identified billing errors prior to bill drop as required
  • Audit accounts to ensure all quality assurance standards are met including demographic, insurance payor information and signatures are acquired for consents and documented correctly
  • Reviews QA statistical data with Patient Access Management, regional sites and Training & Education Department on a regular basis to identify problems and trends, and recommend solutions
  • Provide coaching/education training to Patient Access staff with the assistance of the Training & Education Department

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Some college (1-2 years)/bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business or related preferred
  • 3 years of experience in healthcare setting required; at least 2 years in Patient Access preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid problem solving capabilities to identify data element and compliance issues, prepare audit reports, and identify trends
  • PC proficient with experience in QA software preferred
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Proven ability to effectively lead a group and support fellow leadership members
  • Proven knowledge and experience in analytics and problem solving with the ability to recognize trends or anomalies
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment that requires quick turnaround and quality output
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Product
  • Maintain a professional attitude
