ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Position Summary

SEEKING a quality executive responsible for driving performance improvement at the academic medical center. In this capacity, functions in a matirx structure by serviing as a critical member of the executive team at the medical center as well as leading Quality shared service functions that advance our one goal of EXCELLENCE.

Translate strategies into actionable initiatives that enable achievement of results that align with established quality imperatives to create and sustain operational excellence for health care entities and programs.  Leads the integration and provides ultimate oversight for multiyear strategies to advance quality imperatives that foster multidisciplinary teamwork, drive evidence based care implementation, reduce unnecessary variation in clinical care, assure compliance with regulatory standards, and advance patient safety culture. Works in partnership with management and physician leaders in ensuring that plans, operations and patient care are aligned with the Mission, Vision and Values.  Ensures broader organizational support around identified goals, strategies, budgets, and metrics associated with quality imperatives.  Ensures that policies, procedures and practices are operationalized to support safe, reliable care and fosters a continuous learning culture.  Builds the organizational structure, talent, and other capabilities to implement and operate quality imperatives. Responsible for establishing, measuring, and achieving quality performance metrics, consistent with ECU Health expectations.  Employs methods of change management to advance the organization by using tools, business processes, budget allocations and operational practices to significantly reshape ECU Health.  Accountable for a positive organizational culture in conducting business, decision making and performance management to influence work attitudes and enhance job satisfaction. Provides leadership and has oversight of patient safety, quality improvement, best practice, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance. Stays current on quality and performance measures from emerging national and state requirements.   Member of system management teams and functions as a key liaison between the leadership teams and physician partners and applicable governing board of the health care entities and programs.

SCOPE:  ECU Health Medical Center (ECUHMC) is a 900+ bed academic medical center that serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.  ECUHMC is a regional referral center and the flagship hospital for ECU Health.  ECUHMC has over 700 practicing physicians on its medical staff.  ECUHMC serves 29 counties in eastern North Carolina with a population of 1.4 million people.  On an annual basis, it serves 45,000 inpatients and over 170,000 outpatients (including 117,000 ED visits), in addition to a surgical volume of 21,000.  Total operating revenue for VMC - 1.1 Billion; net patient revenue - 1 Billion.  In its role as an academic medical center, ECUHMC currently trains 2,500 students in a variety of fields including nursing and allied health.  Through its relationship with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, ECUHMC employs and trains over 300 residents in 14 programs as well as 80 fellows in 20 programs. 


SCOPE:  ECU Health is a mission-driven, 1,512-bed health system that annually serves more than 1.4 million people in 29 eastern North Carolina counties. The not-for-profit system is made up of more than 12,500 employees, eight hospitals, home health, hospice, wellness centers, and ECU Health Medical Group, a multi-specialty physician and provider group with more than 500 providers in more than 90 locations in eastern North Carolina. ECU Health is affiliated with The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Minimum Requirements

Master's required- or higher.

RN licensure is required.

8 - 10 years progressively related work experience is required.
