Position Summary
Maintain medical records and ensure that physican's orders for therapy are received; assist with ensuring that prior approval is obtained for patients with Medicaid
Responsibilities
Manage physician orders and referrals for services;scan orders into EHR
Maintain patient charts; assemble prior to patient's first appointment;filing documents as needed and purging records monthly
Forward discharge charts to main HIMS;scan documents as needed
Contact legal to get clearance for therapists to document in closed records
Handle receiving information via fax and sending out information as well, ie POT's, etc ; maintain logs for faxed POT's as required by CMS
Monitor Prior Approval for patients seen with Medicaid
Process release of information requests for patients and send to main HIMS for record pick-up when ready
Follow-up with physician's offices to obtain signatures for documents as needed
Provide instruction/orientation to new staff regarding medical records
Assist in receptionist/check-in area as needed
Minimum Requirements
High School or equivalent is required- or higher.
1 year to 3 years experience in a hospital or medical office setting is required.
