ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Position Summary

The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) performs clinical laboratory tests by standard operating policies and procedures. As a MLS, you are required to understand method principles, performs quality control & calibrations, performs preventive maintenance, and analyzes results as to accuracy, acceptability and critical limits.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or a biological, chemical, or physical science from an accredited institution
  • Bachelor's degree with a combination of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) in biology and chemistry, obtained within or in addition to the degree is also acceptable
  • 1-2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Scientist

Preferred:

  • Certification as MLS, BB, C, H or MB by ASCP or other nationally recognized certifying agency

Other Information

  • 40 hours a week
  • Monday - Friday (7 am - 3:30 pm)
  • Required to work rotating weekends every 3rd week
