Position Summary

The Clinical Pharmacist and Accreditation Coordinator role is pivotal in ensuring the adherence of specialty pharmacy services to industry standards, regulations, and guidelines established by accrediting bodies, including URAC and other relevant entities. This dynamic position involves leading the accreditation process, managing documentation, conducting staff training, driving quality improvement initiatives, and fostering collaboration across departments with clinical pharmacist responsibilities. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with a passion for maintaining high-quality healthcare standards.

Responsibilities

Lead the accreditation process for specialty pharmacy services, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and guidelines set by accrediting bodies such as URAC.

Stay informed about changes in accreditation requirements from various accrediting bodies and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.

Develop and implement strategies to address any gaps or deficiencies in accreditation standards.
Create, maintain, and organize documentation related to accreditation standards, policies, and procedures.

Prepare comprehensive reports on accreditation status, identifying areas of strength and improvement.

Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary documentation and evidence for accreditation submissions.
Conduct training sessions for pharmacy staff to ensure awareness and understanding of accreditation requirements from accrediting bodies.

Develop educational materials and resources to support ongoing staff education on accreditation-related topics.

Serve as a resource for staff inquiries related to accreditation standards and compliance.
Lead the quality improvement initiatives for the Specialty Pharmacy Cost Center.

Chair and facilitate the Quality Committee for the Specialty Pharmacy Cost Center.

Collaborate with committee members to identify and address quality-related issues and implement improvement strategies.
Work closely with internal departments to facilitate collaboration and ensure alignment with accreditation goals.

Communicate accreditation updates, requirements, and expectations from accrediting bodies to relevant stakeholders.
Collect and analyze information:

The clinical pharmacist ensures the collection of the necessary subjective and objective information about the patient and is responsible for analyzing information in order to understand the patient's relevant medical/medication history and clinical status.

Develop and implement the care plan:

The clinical pharmacist implements the care plan in collaboration with the health care team and the patient or caregiver.

Follow-up and monitor:

The clinical pharmacist provides ongoing follow-up and monitoring to optimize the care plan and identify and resolve medication therapy problems, with the goal of optimizing medication use and improving care outcomes. This may include, but is not limited to remote home monitoring equipment.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Pharmacy is required.

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Registered Pharmacist (RPh)

3 years of related pharmacy experience.

BLS Certification

Must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of North Carolina within 30 days of hire.

Completion of a pharmacy residency is a plus.

Proven experience in specialty pharmacy accreditation processes, standards, and compliance.

Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices, including those specified by accrediting bodies like URAC.

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
