ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet® designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people.

Position Summary

Executive responsible for overall financial health and leadership within ECU Health Medical Center (ECUHMC).

Translate strategies into actionable initiatives that enable achievement of results that align with established goals to create and sustain operational excellence for health care entities and programs. Leads the integration and provides ultimate oversight for multiyear strategies to advance the function. Works in partnership with management and physician leaders in ensuring that plans, operations and patient care are aligned with the Mission, Vision and Values. Ensures broader organizational support around identified goals, strategies, budgets, and metrics associated with the function. Ensures that policies, procedures and practices are operationalized to support safe, reliable care and fosters a continuous learning culture. Builds the organizational structure, talent, and other capabilities to implement and operate the function.

Responsible for establishing, measuring, and achieving performance metrics, consistent with ECU Health expectations. Employs methods of change management to advance the organization by using tools, business processes, budget allocations and operational practices to significantly reshape ECU Health. Accountable for a positive organizational culture in conducting business, decision making and performance management to influence work attitudes and enhance job satisfaction. Select, engage and develop leaders, inclusive of performance management, professional development, formation, and succession planning. Member of system management teams and functions as a key liaison between the leadership teams and physician partners and applicable governing board of the health care entities and programs.

Scope: ECU Health is a not-for-profit health system. The ECU Health System is made up of 12,600 employees, nine hospitals, home health, hospice, wellness centers, and ECU Health Medical Group, a multispecialty physician and provider group with more than 600 providers (physicians and advanced practice practitioners) in 80 practice sites. ECU Health is affiliated with The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The mission driven 1,447-bed health system serves more than 1.4 million people in 29 eastern North Carolina counties.

ECU Health Medical Center (ECUHMC) is a 900+ bed academic medical center that serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECUHMC is a regional referral center and the flagship hospital for ECU Health. ECUHMC has over 700 practicing physicians on its medical staff. ECUHMC serves 29 counties in eastern North Carolina with a population of 1.4 million people. On an annual basis, it serves 45,000 inpatients and over 241,000 outpatients (including 107,000 ED visits), in addition to a surgical volume of 24,000. Total operating revenue for ECUHMC - $1.4 Billion; net patient revenue - $1.3 Billion. In its role as an academic medical center, ECUHMC currently trains 2,500 students in a variety of fields including nursing and allied health. Through its relationship with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, VMC employs and trains over 300 residents in 14 programs as well as 80 fellows in 20 programs.

Minimum Requirements

Master's Degree is required- or higher.

8 - 10 years experience is required.
