ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet® designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people.

Position Summary

  • This position serves as one of the program leaders for a designated service line to ensure that care is of high quality and that value is aligned with supporting services. This position, along with responsible physician director and other leaders, participates in defining and implementing growth, development, and service building initiatives across the system. overall responsibility includes:
  • The successful development and implementation of programmatic and operational planning for the hospitalist service at ECU Health Medical Center.
  • Responsibility for physician and hospital integration, excellence in clinical outcomes, improved relationship with internal and external customers, gains in operational efficiencies.
  • Ensuring broader organizational support around identified goals, strategies, budgets and metrics associated with the Hospitalist Services.
  • Building the organizational structure, talent, and other capabilities to implement and operate the function of the services.
  • Establishing, measuring and achieving performance metrics, consistent with ECU Health expectations.
  • Managing and promoting best practice in the hospitalist arena to include, but not limited to, assuring regulatory, accreditation and clinical standards are met per the Joint Commission and other regulatory and accreditation agencies.
  • Responsible for advancing the mission of ECU Health and the vision for Hospitalist Services by providing strong leadership in coordination with the Hospitalist Chiefs and Medical Directors, entity executives, and ECU Health Medical Group leadership. The incumbent will also maintain close working relationships and communication with entity medical group leadership and counterparts at regional ECU Health facilities related to Hospitalist Services.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required- or higher. If RN or MSN, must maintain RN licensure through North Carolina State.
  • 1-3 years or greater experience is required in related fields.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
