Position Summary
Translate strategies into actionable initiatives that enable achievement of results that align with established goals to achieve the vision of ECU Health Nursing to become the national model for nursing excellence, innovation, research and education in rural health and beyond. Lead initiatives to create and sustain workforce pipeline improvement and robust partnerships across the region with academic institutions. Works in partnership with management and nursing leaders in ensuring that plans, operations and patient care are aligned with the Mission, Vision and Values. Oversees nursing policies for the ECU Health System. Ensures that policies, procedures and practices are operationalized to support safe, reliable care and fosters a continuous learning culture. In collaboration with nursing executives, responsible for enterprise-wide efforts around developing, implementing and enhancing conceptual models which drive nursing professional practices at ECU Health including, but not limited to deployment and maintenance of a robust system-wide professional practice model and shared governance structure. Employs methods of change management to advance the organization by using tools, business processes, budget allocations and operational practices to significantly reshape ECU Health. Accountable for a positive organizational culture in conducting business, decision making and performance management to influence work attitudes and enhance job satisfaction. Provides leadership and expertise for any entities within the organization seeking ANCC Magnet or Pathway to Excellence designation. Stays current on quality and performance measures from emerging national and state requirements.
Scope: ECU Health is a mission-driven, 1,708 bed health system that annually serves more than 1.4 million people in 29 eastern North Carolina counties. The not-for-profit system is comprised of more than 13,500 team members, nine hospitals. ECU Health Medical Center (ECUHMC) serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health serves 29 counties in eastern North Carolina with a population of 1.4 million people. On an annual basis, it serves 45,000 inpatients and over 170,000 outpatients (including 117,000 ED visits), in addition to a surgical volume of 21,000. Total operating revenue for this system level role equates to approximately $2.5 Billion. In its role as an academic medical center, ECUHMC currently trains 2,500 students in a variety of fields including nursing and allied health.
Minimum Requirements
PhD or DNP Required
NC RN License Required
8 - 10 years' experience is required including 5 years of progressive leadership
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities required:
Demonstrated ability to manage, teach, make independent decisions and assume responsibility
Strong interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written
Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of staff
Working knowledge and experience with PC-based applications, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Futuristic approach to the development of programs/systems that support continuous quality improvement and Mission, Vision, and Values
Ability to function as a leader, team member and execute the desired outcomes
Must exhibit creative, positive problem-solving abilities
