Job Description

ECU Health

ECU Health Foundation

East Carolina University (“ECU”) and Vidant Health entered into a Joint Operating Agreement on January 1, 2022 to create ECU Health to achieve greater economies of scale, improve the value of care provided, efficiently allocate resources, and facilitate the identification of new strategies to meet the most prevalent health needs for eastern North Carolina.

To further that work, the ECU Medical & Health Sciences Foundation, Inc. (“MHSF”), and the University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina Foundation, Inc. d/b/a Vidant Health Foundation entered into an Agreement, effective January 1, 2023, to align and consolidate fundraising and stewardship operations under the assumed business name of ECU Health Foundation.  The two foundations along with ECU and ECU Health believe that the consolidated and coordinated philanthropic operations would be best achieved through shared executive leadership such that the President of the ECU Medical & Health Sciences Foundation and the President of Vidant Health Foundation shall be held by the same individual (the Chief Philanthropy Officer of ECU Health Foundation).

The purpose of the ECU Health Foundation is to give hope to eastern North Carolina and beyond by inspiring philanthropy to improve health, education, and well-being.  In FY23, the foundation reported total contributions of more than $23.4 million.

ECU Health

ECU Health’s system of care includes 1,708 beds across an academic medical center with two campuses, affiliated with The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University; seven community hospitals; and numerous outpatient facilities, home health, hospice and wellness centers.

The system also includes a multi-specialty physician and provider group, offers access to more than 500 providers in 100+ practice locations.

Health Sciences of ECU

The colleges and schools on the ECU Health Sciences Campus prepare leaders in the medical, dental, nursing and allied health fields to improve lives and create access to care across our state. Laupus Library is also located on the health sciences campus.  It is the promise of ECU’s Health Sciences to improve the health status of our region and state.  The campus is a driving force that serves people from the classroom to the clinic—right here in our community, from the mountains to the coast and in some of North Carolina’s most rural and underserved areas.  Number of health sciences students: 3,370 (includes Brody, dental, nursing and allied health)
