The Imaging Informatics Assistant is responsible for assisting the Radiologists and clinical staff in the day-to-day operations relating to the acquisition, storage, routing, and retrieval of clinical images and results. Maintains knowledge of software applications, downtime procedures, image routing, storage, and retrieval as well as facilitating communication to providers, clinical staff and other customers. Monitors PACS, EHR, and PowerShare work lists and assists Radiologists and clinical staff as needed.
Work closely with radiologists to facilitate workflow and daily needs in addition to supporting their interactions with customers.
Maintains working knowledge of EHR, PACS, PowerShare and Power Scribe systems.
Coordinate all radiology image and report management functions including but not limited to: digital data (EHR/PACS) in a dynamic fast paced multi-hospital environment.
Serve as professional liaison to radiologists and other providers.
Act as liaison for ED needing to contact radiologist.
Act as liaison to technologists needing to contact radiologist for a STAT read.
Perform quality control of exams ensuring they are ready for radiologist interpretation.
Maintain Code Stroke notifications in accordance to policies.
Maintain a continual high level of customer service both internally and externally.
Act as liaison to providers needing to contact radiologist for a STAT read.
Use electronic systems to monitor workflow, identify problems, and assist with image transfer when needed.
Respond to requests from radiologists when they need to contact hospital personnel.
Monitor the status of studies and notify radiologists if a reading is not performed within established time frame.
Follow-up when reads are overdue and escalate accordingly.
Coordinates communications between Radiologists and other physicians, healthcare providers, healthcare facilities; and other parties including telephone calls, e-mails, instant messaging, paging, etc.
Relays complex imaging information to appropriate customers. Reports and documents critical results in an efficient and effective manner to expedite safe patient care.
Provides customer with images, digitally or CD format, as requested, ensuring all appropriate consents are obtained in accordance to policy.
Upload outside facility images and reports into the system with appropriate and accurate order information for review by Radiologist.
Investigates and resolves customer requests, questions or problems. Contacts outside representatives to request information or assistance in resolving problem.
Ensures that all ancillary support equipment is working properly and involves management as needed for escalation and resolution.
Builds positive relationships with colleagues. Assists others in acquiring department specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Responds to requests quickly and effectively. Identifies and understands customer needs and expectations and meets them. Communicates any relevant information to clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders.
High school graduate or equivalent (GED) or higher degree required.
One year of relevant customer service or health care experience required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; advanced problem-solving skills
Professional phone skills and experience
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Ability to function efficiently and professionally with minimum supervision
Ability to sit 8-12 hours per day
Ability to read and correctly pronounce medical terminology
Must have good computer skills to understand, navigate, and enter data on multiple IT systems and Radiology-centric systems
Must be able to multitask and handle acute situations during stressful and busy periods; task completion with accuracy is critical
