Position Summary
The OR Materials Service Specialist is responsible for assisting in ordering, receiving, and maintaining a sufficient inventory of supplies and instruments, etc.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Selects appropriate vendors when purchasing items for the Operating Room . Maintains records for all purchases in the Operating Room.
Uses computer system in ordering and receiving items. Pe1forms price check on items.
Performs cycle counts on inventory. Assists with year-end inventory.
Receives supplies/equipment from vendors; checks packing slips and reconcile differences
between items on packing slips. Resolves backorders from vendors. Returns damaged items to vendors. Orders specialty items when needed.
Sends broken instruments to vendors for repair.
Obtains and process loaner equipment to be used within the facility.
Coordinates with Bio-Med to have new and loaner equipment checked in upon arrival to the facility.
Assist in the process for new equipment evaluation when needed
Coordinates the installation or expansion of PYXIS units.
Manages the console item Master for new supplies in the PYXIS.
Manages the standard inventories on all PYXIS stations.
Runs and reviews batch reports.
Monitors proper operation of the PYXIS system.
Communicates with OR Material Service Supervisor regarding PYXIS activities, policies and procedures.
Distributes stock to specific services.
Assists in maintaining OR Storage Room in a clean and orderly state.
Assists OR Materials Service Supervisor in preparing reports, operational and capital budget.
Maintains cost control for OR Materials.
Adheres to guidelines in the confidentiality statement.
Attends meeting with and in the absence of the OR Materials Service Supervisor.
Reviews and checks for expired items in Pyxis and OR supply areas on a monthly basis.
PARTICIPATES IN QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (QI) ACTIVITIES:

Minimum Requirements
High School or greater degree is required- or higher.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities required
