Position Summary
Overall administrative and supervisory responsibility for the Clinical Pastoral Education Programs of the department's nationally accredited Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program. Develops, organizes, and directs program activities pertaining to provision of CPE programs, guidance and training to students, residents, interns and Supervisory Education Students (SESs) in accordance with philosophy, mission statement and objectives of the Hospital. Assists the Administrator, Pastoral Services in the leadership of the department.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
Requires Master of Divinity degree or equivalent- or higher- formal theological education from a theological seminary accredited by the Association of Theological Schools. A PhD degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Pastoral Care and Counseling, or a related field, in addition to the M.Div. degree is preferred, as well as additional course-work in the field of Business Administration.
Knowledge/Work Experience:
Requires level of knowledge of objectives and techniques of CPE supervision generally acquired through at least 5 years of experience as a CPE Supervisor and/or pastoral care provider in an acute health care setting and requires an additional three years of recent and progressive experience having administrative responsibilities for CPE programs.
Skills:
Requires analytical abilities necessary to develop and administer budgets, policies and procedure, and administrative skills to plan, organize and direct activities of employees and students. Requires high level of interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with students, patients, families and employees, often during periods of stress.
Required Licensure, Certification, etc.
Requires current ordination as a minister, pastor, or recognized spiritual leader and endorsement for specialized ministry from a nationally recognized religious community. Requires ACPE-certification as a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Supervisor. Additional certification as a professional health care chaplain through the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) preferred.
Machines, Tools, Equipment:
Requires understanding of computers for maintaining budgets, tracking departmental
productivity and performance improvement monitors.
Working Conditions:
Works primarily in normal office environment and in the various patients care environments with possible exposure to communicable disease with little likelihood of harm if established health precautions are followed. Work requires regular exposure to emotional strain when providing supervision or pastoral care and emotional and spiritual support to students, patients, families and staff during moments of acute or long term crisis.

Day shift - Monday to Friday (8am-5pm and some evenings to supervise clinicals)
Rotating weekends
