About ECU Health Beaufort Hospital, a campus of ECU Health Medical Center

ECU Health Beaufort Hospital is located in Washington and serves as a campus ECU Health Medical Center, our Level I Trauma Center in Greenville. The 142-bed full-service hospital offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services including medical, surgical, intensive care, emergency, pediatrics and women’s services. In addition there is a lab, diagnostic imaging services, physical and respiratory therapy. The facility also features the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, offering leading-edge chemotherapy and radiation therapy, among other cancer services.

Position Summary

The nurse navigator provides individualized assistance to specific patients and their families in overcoming barriers to care, facilitating timely access to care, and providing education and support. The patients' trajectory through diagnosis, treatment, and after care will be seamless and coordinated in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Additional patient navigational needs may be assigned to this Navigator.

Minimum Requirements

  • 4 year college degree is required. 
  • BSN, MSN preferred
  • Current North Carolina nursing license is required.
  • 3-5 years clinical experience for patient focus is required.
  • 3-5 years in a hospital setting is required. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Organized, can multi-task, analytical, time management
  • Work well under stress and be able to provide emotional support.
  • Membership in professional organization is desired.
  • Certification for patient focus preferred or within 2 years of employment.

  • Unit/Department: Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, a Facility of ECU Health Medical Center- Washington, NC 
  • This position is part-time (20 hrs/week) and benefit eligible.
