ECU Health Company Police is a corporate department that serves all ECU Health properties. As part of the professional healthcare team, the Police Department’s mission is to protect and serve the patients, visitors and staff of all ECU Health entities in order to provide a high quality, cost effective and secure environment for the provision of quality patient care.
The Police Sergeant performs a complete range of law enforcement services for the ECU Health Police Department. Duties include patrols, criminal apprehension, preliminary and follow-up investigations, traffic enforcement, other tasks that aid in securing the hospital campus. Assists the Police Lieutenant/Captain with scheduling and other duties as assigned.
This position is primarily assigned to report and work at a home region, but may be assigned to other regions as needed.
Assist with scheduling and supervising other officers, critiquing reports, and providing input for performance appraisals at the direction of their Lieutenant.

Fills the Officer position for call outs or when shorthanded. Responsible and accountable in the effective operation and attainment of department goals by being available at non-routine times (including nights, weekends, and holidays).
High school plus 1 - 2 years formal education/training is required- or higher.
Basic Law Enforcement Training is required.
1. Law Enforcement certification by the State of North Carolina, Valid Driver's License.
2. Minimum age of 20 years.
3. Selected applicants must pass complete medical examination, psychological testing, and Police
applicant background investigation.
One additional year of experience may be substituted for 1 year of required education (BLET required).
1 to 3 years law enforcement, military, security experience / background is required. Must have excellent verbal and written skills.
