ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet® designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people.

Position Summary

Supports the supervisor(s) with all team members as far as their assigned areas of responsibilities to ensure they are trained & well educated on proper food handling procedures, the ordering, preparation, delivery, and service of quality food to patients, employees, and visitors. Serves as a working Crew Leader coordinating activities of team members including service team members involved in the At Your Request (AYR) program while performing day-to-day assignments.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to complete Serve Safe Certification within the 1st year of employment is required. Must be able to become recertified every 3 years.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English (Bilingual in Spanish is preferred)
  • Knowledge and Skills-- Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner. Must be able to multi-task and maintain a positive attitude. Ability to calculate numbers, correct entries, and post to records. Ability to effectively communicate accounting information, policies, and/or procedures in a manner easily understood by the customer.
  • Attitude- Must have a positive and upbeat personality with excellent customer service skills. Must be able maintain a positive attitude while functioning under pressure
  • Physical-- Must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 6 hours); Specific physical characteristics and abilities required: agility, dexterity and long periods of walking (up to 6 hours), standing, bending, carrying or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • 0 to 2 years experience in customer service. On-site 4 week training program required.

Other Information

  • Nights - 10:30am - 7:00pm
  • Every other weekend
  • Rotating shift
