Position Summary
The GME Program Specialist will support the operations of the ECU Health Graduate Medical Education Office. Strong critical thinking skills, including organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and project management skills are required. Advanced knowledge of computer and webbased technologies preferred. Professional handling of exposure to confidential and sensitive information is required.
Responsibilities
1. Implements strategies for Resident Physician/Fellow and Hospital communication, identifies areas for improvement, suggests and implements strategies for process improvement.
a. Facilitates completion and timely processing of Resident Physician/Fellow Onboarding/Credentialing to include: NC Licensure, Human Resource requirements, Immigration in compliance with US Immigration and Department of Homeland Security Regulations, DEA, National Provider Identification number, EHR access, approval from Medical Executive Committee, Credentials Committee and VMC Board.
2. New Innovations Residency Management Software Data System.
a. Data analyst maintaining all resident physician and fellow data to support Accreditation monitoring and compliance.
b. Trainer for residency and fellowship program leadership on evaluations, Milestones, Clinical Competency Committees, Duty Hours Monitoring, Portfolio, Block Schedules, and conferences.
c. Required to attend annual New Innovations Conference.
3. Webmaster for GME Website maintaining the GME Office website and assisting 40 residency and fellowship programs with program specific webpages.
4. Support GME Leadership in annual resident physician and fellow reappointment by monitoring timely and accurate completion of Reappointment Application, VMC requirement employee modules, USMLE/COMLEX Step 3 Exam, and Institute of Medicine Patient Safety and Quality Basic Certification completion.
5. Special projects supporting the efforts of the Graduate Medical Education office as directed by the GME Physician and Administrative Leadership.
Minimum Requirements
Associate degree or higher in Arts, Human Resourses, Business Administration or related field is required.
Residency Management Database is Preferred.
5 years or greater related experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting with managed care credentialing, graduate medical education or human resources.
A four year degree may substitute for the required experience.
