ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant II performs specific responsibilities under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse. Functions within the framework of the NAII listing granted by the NC Board of Nursing. Practices within the philosophy and goals of patient care services.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School or GED is preferred- or higher
  • Active NAI listing with NC Department of Health & Human Services  is required.
  • Active NAII listing with North Carolina Board of Nursing is required.
  • Current American Heart Association HeartSaver certification is required.

HIRING FOR NAII POSITIONS AND FOR ALL ECU HEALTH LOCATIONS.  CURRENT AVAILABLE UNITS/LOCATIONS WILL BE DISCUSSED WITH THE TALENT ACQUISITION REPRESENTATIVE.

  • Apply and attach an up-to-date resume with all NA work experience, complete dates of employment and complete job titles.
  • Full Time (Three 12 hour shifts per week totalling 36 hours) positions.
  • Day shift is 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM OR night shift is 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM OR rotating shift includes day and night shifts (depends on the unit). 

About James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital

The James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital, located on the campus of ECU Health Medical Center, is designed to care for children of all ages, from newborns to teenagers. The 198-bed Level II pediatric trauma center provides highly specialized services including neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, kids immunosuppressed specialty unit, specialty care nursery, 24/7 children’s emergency department, pediatric radiology, pediatric surgery, and more. The Children’s Hospital is a designated Children’s Miracle Network hospital, placing it among the nation’s top children’s facilities.

Preferred Requirements for the Children's Hospital

  • Prior experience in setting where care of pediatric patients is provided including daycares, pediatric clinics, extracurricular programs (camps, youth groups) or nanny duties.
  • Currently enrolled or pursing career opportunities that involve working with children.
  • Demonstrates ability and/or prior experience with interacting with multiple age populations including infants, children and parents.
  • Passion for caring for pediatric patients.
  • Prior NA experience (Any population) coupled with prior pediatric experience such as camps, daycares, nanny duties.

Other Ideal Candidate Preferences for the Children's Hospital Include:

  • Child CPR training
  • Currently enrolled in nursing school with interest in pediatric care
