About ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital

ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed community hospital located in Ahoskie. Serving four nearby counties, the 15-bed emergency department sees approximately 18,000 patients per year. ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital provides a wide range of health services, including medical, surgical and radiation oncology. In addition, the Wound Healing and Pain Management clinics serve as referral centers for neighboring ECU Health hospitals and providers.

Ahoskie, NC is ideally located an hour from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and two hours from Raleigh, Richmond, Williamsburg, and the beautiful Outer Banks of NC. Ahoskie offers a moderate cost of living, a strong sense of community, and a temperate climate and location to support a variety of year round outdoor activities, such as boating, kayaking, hunting, fishing, hiking, and golf.

Position Summary

Pharmacists (Pharm. D.) at ECU Health are committed to the safe and effective use of medications through maximizing drug distribution and optimizing drug therapy outcomes; educating patients, providers, and ourselves on best practices; and fully integrating pharmacists into the continuum of care. Pharmacists report directly to a designated Pharmacy Supervisor based on area of practice.

Minimum Requirements

  • B.S. or Pharm. D. in pharmacy
  • Must be Licensed in North Carolina prior to start date or within 30 days of hire
  • Maintains active NC pharmacy license and provides proof of renewal prior to December 31 annually
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within 30 days of hire

Career Ladder

Level I:            

  • 0 years of relevant pharmacy experience (post-graduate)

Level II:                

  • 2 years of relevant pharmacy experience (post-graduate) or completion of a PGY-2 pharmacy practice residency

Level III:

  • 5 years of relevant pharmacy experience (post-graduate)

Level IV:

  • 8 years of relevant pharmacy experience (post-graduate)

Other Information

  • 20 hours a week 
  • Required to work 8 to 10 hour shifts
  • 7:30 am - 5 pm
  • May be required to work some weekends
