Position Summary
The Emergency Nurse Coordinator (ENC) coordinates and facilitates patient care for patients within the service line. The ENC is responsible for overseeing and enforcing criteria for safe quality patient care. The ENC coordinates patient care and staffing resources within emergency services. Through procurement of resources, teaching,
guidance of nursing and organizational activities during the designated shift, the ENC facilitates delivery of patient care, patient placement and throughput. The ENC holds accountability/responsibility as a consultant for admission and determines patient placement. The ENC also participates in high acuity/high census decompression of emergency services through initial assessments, patient care, covering triage (if applicable), covering charge nurses to go into staffing, or working with housekeeping to clean patient rooms/delivery rooms to maximize throughput and/or patient transport. The ENC is responsible to ensure EMTALA regulations are maintained through the shift as appropriate for emergency services and keeps constant communication with the patient care coordinators.
Minimum Requirements
a. Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing required- or higher.
b. RN Licensure active in NC required
c. Must have certification for specialty or obtain one year of hire
d. BLS, ACLS
e. 1-2 years of experience, with one year in specialty.
f. For Adult and Childrens ED, must obtain TNCC within one year of hire
Preferred Position Requirements
a. 1 year Clinical Ladder status preferred
b. 1 year experience as Charge and Trauma Role in emergency setting preferred
c. PALS within one year of hire
