About ECU Health Chowan Hospital
ECU Health Chowan Hospital in Edenton is a 25-bed critical access hospital which provides programs and services to 110,000 people in 6 counties. The facility offers medical and surgical services, including intensive care, a specialty care clinic and a dedicated outpatient surgery area with endoscopy capabilities. A 7-bed emergency department serves approximately 15,000 patients per year and team members at the facility have access to a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
Position Summary
Under the Clinical Supervision of the Medical Director of Respiratory Care and the overall supervision of the Manager, Assistant Manager and Respiratory Care Supervisor the Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), II functions in a safe, expedient, and cost-effective manner in providing, responding to patient needs and documenting respiratory care and services provided. The Respiratory Care Practitioner II is involved in the Clinical Ladder program which is a voluntary promotion system that recognizes health care professionals who demonstrate advanced knowledge, critical thinking skills, and professional development.
Minimum Requirements
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Associate Degree or higher in an approved COARC program for Respiratory Care.
Active licensure with the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board upon hire and is maintained yearly.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Registry Eligible with RRT credential obtained within 1 year of graduation.
Advance Life Support Certification (ACLS), if not current at time of hire, must complete within first 6 months of Employment and maintained.
If working in the Children's hospital you are required to have PALS and NRP in place of the ACLS and you must have completed the NBRC NPS exam by 12 months from your orientation end date.
For non medical center Respiratory care departments BLS and ACLS are required at hire. PALS and NRP are required at 6 months from hire date.
0 to 3 years post graduate experience is required.
Active status with NBRC recommended
