About ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital

ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital is a full-service, 117-bed acute care facility where residents of Tarboro and the surrounding communities can receive a wide range of health services close to home. As part of the ECU Health system of care, the hospital offers high quality care provided by more than 20 medical specialists, rehabilitation services, a birthing center, a cancer center, outpatient clinics and more.

The New Graduate Nurse Residency Program at ECU Health is designed to build both your competence and your confidence. Each of our programs provides an extensive orientation to the roles and responsibilities associated with professional practice and takes place over a minimum of three to six months depending upon the specific clinical setting.

As a nurse resident at ECU Health, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Choose the facility and unit that matches your experience and passion

• Enjoy a culture that encourages team member growth

• Be a part of a cohort of other new graduate nurses

• Work side by side with a dedicated clinical coach throughout your orientation

• Participate in simulation laboratory experiences

• Receive mentorship from a nurse educator

• Attend cornerstone sessions designed to stimulate critical thinking skills

• Participate in classroom activities that address key clinical topics

• Participate in Nursing Councils and other professional groups within the organization

Program Requirements:

• ADN or BSN required

• North Carolina RN license or Multi-State Compact RN license must be active prior to start date

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support Required

Minimum Requirements

Diploma in Nursing, Associates in Nursing or higher

Current NC RN license or licensure to practice in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state Health Care Provider is required.

Basic Life Support is required.


 

Other Information

ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital will be accepting new grads in the following units:

  • Emergency Department (nights only)
  • Medical Intermediate Unit (nights only)
  • Med/Surg (nights only)
  • Surgical Unit (nights only)
