  • Works with monitoring equipment in procedures, recognizing abnormal pressures and heart rhythms. Sets up and/or uses equipment necessary for the physician to perform the cardiac catherization and monitor the patient's hemodyamic status.   • Electronically documents the procedure, vital signs, EKG rhythms, and heart pressures. Uses computerize hemodynamic monitoring and recording/documentation systems.
  • Assists RN with connecting patient to hemodynamic monitoring equipment before a case and removing after a case.
  • Understands techniques for performing diagnostic and interventional procedures. Will average assisting in 200 diagnostic and 100 interventional cases/year.
  • Assists in the transport of patients to and from the cath lab.
  •  Understands each supply item and it's use (catheters, balloons, stents, guide wires, etc.)
  •  Uses aseptic technique and universal precautions to help prevent infections to patient, self and staff.
  • Utilizes age specific knowledge in providing care and assisting w/ procedures for all age groups. Knowledge in emergency situations.
  • Operation of emergency and standard equipment within scope of practice. Utilizes departmental and hospital resources to help provide quality patient care.
  • Cost containment with equipment/supplies without compromising patient care. Correctly obtains and opens requested supplies.
  • Pulls sheaths and readily identifies and reports complications.
  • Utilizes radiation safety techniques to decrease exposure to radiation. Assists in cleaning the room after the patient has left.

Minimum Requirements

Required training or education requirements: Allied Health (Radiology Technologist, Nuclear Technologist, CT Technologist or Respiratory Therapist) degree with valid NC license/registration OR RN with one year relevant experience and valid NC RN license OR Graduate of a two year AD Cardiovascular program with valid diploma OR High School graduate with current RCIS certification and two years related work experience in cardiac cath lab or electrophysiology lab.

Full Time with Benefits

10 hour shifts (0700 to 1700 may be some variation to this time such as 0730 or 0800 arrivial - 4 days per week.  1 designated late day per week that team member may need to stay over if there are cases still on-going at 1700.  1 shift of call per week and one weekend of call per 6 week schedule.  Weekend call includes Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
