About ECU Health Duplin Hospital

ECU Health Duplin Hospital is an 81-bed facility located in Kenansville, North Carolina. The 15-bed emergency department serves approximately 25,000 patients per year. In addition to providing general medical and surgical services, ECU Health Duplin Hospital offers chemotherapy and other cancer infusion interventions and has earned national designation as a Primary Stroke Center.

Position Summary

Technicians assist in providing quality food service to patient and non-patient customers.  Performs a variety of tasks including cleaning and general sanitation operation of food service equipment and service and preparation of food and beverages to patient and non-patient customers.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains and transports necessary food and supplies as required by assigned task.
  • Communicate with supervisor missing items, faulty equipment, or insufficient amount of need food and non-food items.
  • Preparation and assembly of food and beverages for patient/non-patient customers.
  • Serving food to patient/non-patient customers, utilizing proper utensils, portion control, and appropriate sanitation standards.
  • Delivery of food and supplies and meals to patient/non-patient areas.
  • Properly repackages open containers and stores all food and non-food items in the appropriate area, according to sanitation standards.
  • Properly wraps, dates, labels, and stores all food items.
  • Safely operates equipment in accordance with quality standards in assigned areas such as dish washing machine, pot washing machine, coffee urn, buffalo chopper, meat slicer, blender, toaster, etc.
  • Receive and store food and supply deliveries.  Verify and sign vender invoices as assigned.  Rotate stock.
  • Thoroughly clean assigned workstations.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by any supervisor or manager.
  • Reports any hazardous conditions or equipment problem to Crew Leader, Supervisor, or Plant Operations.
  • Properly and safely use food service chemicals according to directions and/or MSDS.
  • Completes all assignments thoroughly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates acceptable level of Service Excellence behaviors.  Practices and demonstrates work place courtesy toward customers and fellow staff members.  Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities and performs as a team member.
  • Demonstrates acceptable level of work habits/behavior.
  • Adhere to work schedule and starting times, scheduled breaks, and meal breaks.  Keep personal phone calls/visits to a minimum.  Conducts non-work related conversations at appropriate time and place.  Maintains confidentiality.
  • Follow safe working procedures. Avoids making false, malicious, abusive, or threatening statements to or about employees, management or the organization.
  • Meets professional requirements.  Completes role specific ECU Health Medical Center requirements including annual health screening, Service Excellence, other department training requirements.  Completes JCAHO requirements.
  • Adhere to the established uniform policy and maintain all established standards for personal hygiene and personal appearance..

Minimum Requirements

  • Basic Skill Set or higher
  • Zero to two years related experience

Preferred Requirements

  • High School or Equivalent (GED)- or higher.

Other Information

  • PRN (as needed)
  • Shift will be determined based on selected candidate
  • Available hours will be between 6:30am - 6:30pm
  • May include 4, 8 or 12 hour shifts
  • All days with every other weekend
  • Food and Nutrition Services Department
