ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet® designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people.

Position Summary

The position will provide high level analysis, expert consultation, project management and comprehensive management reports that evaluate, assess, forecast and address projected workforce needs enabling leadership to meet current and future organizational goals. The position may include project team leadership, leading and facilitating high priority workforce planning projects and creation of analytic tools.


1. Communicates with business leaders and site management on workforce data findings in order to derive solutions that meet the needs of the business.

2. Use data extraction tools and liaise with HR & Business partners to collect and validate key data required for reporting and analysis - and ensure consistency of approach and metrics definitions.

3. Perform analysis of relevant HR metrics to identify and disseminate trends and insights around key workforce outcomes (i.e., turnover, productivity, recruitment, demographic, position management, demand projections, etc.) which could impact business unit and/or enterprise level workforce planning.

4. Effectively use HR and business systems to respond to ad hoc analytics requests from various HR and Non-HR business partners.

5. Consult with executive leadership and management to address complex, high level strategic workforce planning issues to include determining the workforce planning challenges and structuring the problem-solving approach .

6. Develops and promotes innovative methodologies for supply/demand and workforce forecast models; Performs gap and oversupply analysis.

7. Leads the work to develop and enhance the Workforce Planning Toolkit (systems, process, tools, and reports) that support functional and area workforce planning.

8. Synthesizes, analyzes and identifies key findings (demographics and skill mix; payroll and productivity; supply and demand).

9. Tracks performance metrics related to workforce planning.

Minimum Requirements

Four year degree required. BBA, BS or BA with a major in Accounting, Health Administration or related degree is preferred.

Masters in Business Administration or Health Administration preferred

2.Ability to work under pressure and balance many competing priorities.
3.Proficient in spreadsheet, word-processing, and presentation software.
4. Experience in statistical and financial reporting.
4.Demonstrates effective communication skills.
5.Maintains a positive and supportive attitude and demeanor.
6.Professional handling of exposure to confidential/sensitive information.

One to three years of analytics, human resources or data management experience preferably in health care.
