About The East Carolina Heart Institute

The East Carolina Heart Institute is the first in North Carolina devoted exclusively to education, research, treatment, and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The institute is associated with Vidant Medical Center and East Carolina University. The primary facilities that make up the Heart Institute are located on the campuses of Vidant Medical Center and ECU’s Brody School of Medicine. We use the most advanced equipment and techniques to manage both familiar and rare cardiovascular problems. Our integration of basic science and clinical research, along with the clinical practice of medicine and surgery, ensures that patients receive the latest, most promising treatment options based on thorough review of their individual needs.

About the Cardiac/Vascular/Thoracic Operating Room

6 state-of-the-art Operating Room suites with Storz One Integration including 1 Hybrid Operating Room.

• Vascular Surgery – Open and Endovascular Abdominal, Peripheral Vascular, Carotid, Stenting and Angioplasty procedures
• Cardiac Surgery – Coronary Bypass, Valve repair and Replacement, Minimal Invasive and Robotic Valves, Trans catheter Valve Replacements.
• Thoracic Surgery – Open Thoracotomy and Video Assisted Thoracoscopy, Esophageal/hernia repairs, Bronchoscopy, Esophagoscopy, Robotics

Position Summary

• The Manager-OR (MOR) is a professional nurse who demonstrates expertise in utilizing the concepts of participative management.
• The MOR has the responsibility & authority for operational management of the department.
• Among these responsibilities are coordinating, evaluating improving nursing care, providing direction to the Assistant Nurse Managers-OR & assisting the department leadership in promoting safe, cost effective, quality patient care on a daily basis.

Minimum Requirements

• BSN Required.
• NC RN license required
• At least 3-yrs of recent OR clinical experience with 2-yrs in an OR specialty required. 

Preferred Requirements

• CNOR preferred
• MSN preferred.
• Demonstrated 2-yrs of progressive leadership growth/experience preferred.
